Amazon.ae product image requirements, explained
By Tasweer studio team · Last updated · 7 min read
TL;DR
- Amazon.ae main images need a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), the product filling at least 85% of the frame, and no text, logos, watermarks or extra props.
- Images must be 500 to 10,000 pixels on the longest side; Amazon prefers over 1,000 pixels so zoom works, in JPEG.
- Amazon recommends at least six images and one video per product.
- Additional images can show lifestyle, scale, details and infographics, but must still show only the product being sold.
- Category style guides (clothing, jewellery, shoes) add their own rules, so check yours in Seller Central before you shoot.
Amazon.ae product images must have a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) on the main image, with the product filling at least 85% of the frame and no added text, logos or watermarks. Files should be 500 to 10,000 pixels on the longest side, ideally over 1,000 pixels for zoom. Our Dubai studio shoots to this spec from AED 1,800 for up to 20 products.
What are the Amazon.ae main image requirements?
The main image must show only the product, on a pure white background, filling at least 85% of the frame. It is the image shoppers see in search results, so Amazon is strictest about it.
| Rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Background | Pure white, described by Amazon staff and sellers as RGB 255, 255, 255 |
| Frame fill | Product fills at least 85% of the image |
| Content | Only the product for sale; no props or accessories that are not included |
| Text and graphics | No added text, logos, watermarks, badges, borders or colour blocks |
| Photo type | A real photograph of the product, not a drawing or illustration |
| Completeness | The whole product in frame, not cropped |
| Quality | In focus, evenly lit, no pixelation or jagged edges |
Text that is physically printed on the product or its packaging is fine. What is not allowed is anything added in editing, such as "Best seller", "Free delivery" or a brand logo floating in the corner.
The detailed wording sits on Amazon's Product image requirements help page inside Seller Central, which needs a seller login. Amazon staff have summarised the same rules on the public seller forums, linked in the sources below.
What size should Amazon product images be?
Amazon accepts images from 500 to 10,000 pixels on the longest side and prefers images over 1,000 pixels so the zoom feature works. Most sellers deliver square images at 2,000 pixels or more.
| Spec | Amazon guidance | What we deliver |
|---|---|---|
| Longest side | 500 to 10,000 px | 2,000 px or more |
| Zoom | Preferred over 1,000 px on longest side | Always zoom-ready |
| File formats | JPEG, TIFF, PNG or non-animated GIF; JPEG preferred | JPEG |
| Colour | Accurate to the product | sRGB, colour-matched to the sample |
| Aspect ratio | Not fixed; square is the common choice | 1:1 unless your category needs otherwise |
Square images display most consistently across Amazon's search grid and mobile app, which is why we default to 1:1.
What are the rules for additional images?
Additional images are where you sell: they can show angles, details, scale, lifestyle use and infographics, as long as they show the product being sold. Amazon staff recommend at least six images and one video per listing.
A strong Amazon.ae image stack usually looks like this:
- Main image on pure white.
- Back or side angle.
- Close-up of texture, stitching or material.
- Scale shot, in hand or next to a common object.
- Lifestyle image showing the product in use.
- Infographic with key features or dimensions.
- What's in the box, or a size chart.
Infographics may include text, but keep claims accurate and avoid anything that looks like a promotion or a price. Arabic text overlays can help UAE shoppers, and we add them as an option. For brand-registered sellers, A+ content below the listing is a separate set of modules; see our A+ content service.
Are there extra rules for clothing and abayas?
Yes. Clothing, shoes, jewellery and some other categories have their own style guides in Seller Central that add rules on top of the general ones. The clothing guide covers whether the main image is shot on a model or laid flat, how mannequins may be shown, and rules for children's clothing.
We have not been able to verify the current clothing style guide wording from a public page, and third-party summaries disagree on details such as invisible (ghost) mannequins. So we treat these as safe practice rather than quoted rules:
- Avoid visible mannequins, hangers or stands in the main image.
- For adult clothing, use a model or a clean flat-lay or invisible-mannequin shot, depending on what your category guide allows.
- Keep the full garment in frame, front-facing, on pure white.
- Shoot colour variants with identical lighting and framing.
Check the Image guidelines for clothing page in your Amazon.ae Seller Central account before shooting a full collection. Our guide to ghost mannequin vs flat-lay vs on-model compares the three styles for abaya brands.
Why do Amazon images get rejected or suppressed?
Most main image problems come from a background that is not pure white, a product that is too small in the frame, or added text and graphics. A non-compliant main image can lead to the listing being suppressed from search until it is fixed.
| Problem | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Background reads as off-white | Shot on grey or cream, or a shadow tints the background | Re-light or clip and place on pure white |
| Product too small | Too much empty space around it | Crop so the product fills at least 85% |
| Added text or badges | Marketing overlays on the main image | Move text to additional images |
| Props in shot | Styling items that are not part of the sale | Remove from the main image |
| Blurry or pixelated | Phone photo, upscaled small file | Reshoot at full resolution |
| Cropped product | Part of the item outside the frame | Reframe to show the whole product |
How do you shoot to Amazon.ae spec in Dubai?
Book a white-background ecommerce shoot that exports directly to Amazon's specs. At our Dubai studio, ecommerce photography starts at AED 1,800 for up to 20 products with 20 retouched white-background images, and Signature is AED 3,200 for up to 40 products on white and styled backgrounds. You can also pay per photo, from AED 250 down to AED 150. Prices exclude 5% VAT, Signature is delivered in 3 days and a 48-hour rush is available.
Before you book, it helps to know how many images each marketplace allows; see how many images a product listing needs. If you also sell on Noon, the rules are similar but not identical, so read our Noon image guidelines too. You can send one product photo for a free edit to see the standard before you commit.
Amazon updates its rules from time to time. This guide reflects the guidance we could verify on 21 October 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Does Amazon.ae require a pure white background?
Yes, for the main image. Amazon's guidance is a pure white background, which sellers and Amazon staff describe as RGB 255, 255, 255. Off-white or grey backgrounds are a common reason for main images being flagged. Additional images can use other backgrounds.
What is the minimum image size for Amazon.ae?
Amazon accepts images from 500 to 10,000 pixels on the longest side, but prefers images larger than 1,000 pixels on the longest side so the zoom feature works. We deliver at 2,000 pixels or more on the longest side.
Can I put text or a logo on my Amazon main image?
No. The main image must not include added text, logos, watermarks, borders or badges. Branding that is physically printed on the product or its packaging is fine. Text and infographics belong in the additional images.
How many images should an Amazon.ae listing have?
Amazon staff recommend at least six images and one video per product. A practical set is a white main image, three or four angles or details, one lifestyle or scale image and one or two infographics.
Which file format is best for Amazon images?
Amazon accepts JPEG, TIFF, PNG and non-animated GIF, and states a preference for JPEG. We export sRGB JPEGs sized for zoom.
Do these rules differ between Amazon.ae and Amazon.com?
The core image rules are shared across Amazon marketplaces, but categories and enforcement can differ. Always check the Product image requirements page in your own Amazon.ae Seller Central account before a large shoot.
